Why the Component Fails
- Slow or intermittent charging where the cable needs to be held at specific angles to connect.
- No power transfer at all, usually indicating broken internal connector pins.
- Microphone failure, resulting in people not being able to hear you during voice or cellular calls.
- Headphone jack issues, such as crackling sound or the phone failing to recognize plugged-in audio gear.
Replacement and Installation Advice
The entire lower sub-board (PCB flex) can be swapped out cleanly without needing to desolder individual tiny components. However, the physical process requires some basic hardware care:
- Remove the SIM tray and apply gentle heat around the perimeter of the back plastic cover.
- Carefully unclip the housing, paying attention not to tear the sensitive fingerprint sensor ribbon cable attached nearby.
- Unscrew the protective bracket shield and lift away the lower loudspeaker unit.
- Disconnect the main board-to-board ribbon flex along with the thin coaxial antenna wire.
- Pop out the old charging module, drop in the new replacement piece, and reassemble everything in the reverse order.
