Pin Configuration and Function
A standard 4-pin surface-mount (SMD) mobile power button does not actually use four separate signals. Instead, it uses a paired design:

- Pins 1 & 2: Internally connected together.
- Pins 3 & 4: Internally connected together.
- How it works: When you press the button, it bridges the gap between the 1-2 pair and the 3-4 pair.
How to Test with a Multimeter
- Switch your multimeter to Continuity Mode (the beep setting).
- Place one probe on Pin 1 and the other probe on Pin 2. The multimeter should beep immediately without pressing the button.
- Place one probe on Pin 1 and the other on Pin 3. It should not beep.
- Press and hold the power button down while keeping the probes on Pin 1 and Pin 3. The multimeter must beep now. If it does not beep, the switch is defective.
