1. Integrated Components
The iPhone 6 Plus charging flex ribbon is a consolidated assembly containing four major components:
- Lightning Connector Port: Manages battery charging, power delivery, and data syncing when connected to a computer.
- Headphone Jack (3.5mm): Controls audio output for wired headphones and auxiliary lines.
- Primary Microphone: Handles lower audio intake for phone calls, voice memos, and standard voice commands.
- Antenna Connectors: Built-in contact points that secure the cellular and Wi-Fi antenna connections to help maintain network signals.
2. Common Symptoms of Failure
If this flex cable becomes torn, water-damaged, or heavily worn down, you will likely encounter one or more of the following issues;
- The phone does not charge or responds only when the Lightning cable is held at a specific angle.
- The device is not recognized by a computer or fails to sync via iTunes/Finder.
- People cannot hear you during standard cellular voice calls (primary mic failure), or voice controls like “Hey Siri” do not register.
- No sound comes through wired headphones, or the phone fails to detect when headphones are plugged in.
3. Color Configurations
To maintain a seamless aesthetic through the bottom openings of the phone frame, the charging port itself is color-matched to the exterior colorways of the phone:
- Dark Gray / Black Port: Paired with Space Gray aluminum shells.
- Light Gray / Silver Port: Paired with Silver aluminum shells.
- White / Gold Port: Paired with Gold aluminum shells.
4. Technical Specs & Model Compatibility
- Compatible Models: Custom-fitted exclusively for the iPhone 6 Plus (Model numbers A1522, A1524, and A1593). (Note: It is physically incompatible with the standard iPhone 6, 6s, or 6s Plus due to layout sizes and screw configurations).
- Form Factor: Pre-machined flexible printed circuit (FPC) board with pre-applied adhesive backings for fixed positioning inside the lower aluminum chassis.
