🛠️ Key Technical Specifications
- Material: High-purity, oxide-free woven copper braid.
- Length: Standard 1.5 meters per spool.
- : 1.5mm width (ideal for micro-soldering and tight spaces).
- Flux Type: Fluorine-free, pre-coated with a no-clean rosin flux.
- Packaging: Typically sold in individual spools or in bulk packs of 5 to 10 pieces.
- High Adsorbing Power: The geometrically precise, flat-stitch weaving pattern increases surface capillary action, delivering up to 80% solder absorption efficiency.
- Thermal Protection: It optimizes rapid heat transfer from the soldering iron, allowing you to melt and pull solder away instantly. This drastically reduces the time components are exposed to high heat, preventing pad lifting or thermal damage to the PCB.
- Ultra-Low Residue: Formulated to leave almost zero sticky or corrosive residue behind, eliminating the mandatory step of scrubbing the board with chemical cleaners post-repair.
- Oxidation & Corrosion Resistance: Treated with a special anti-oxidation layer that prevents the copper braid from dulling and losing its absorption capability over time.
💡 Best Practices for Use
- Placement: Place the clean end of the Mijing Alpha wick directly over the solder joints or IC pads you want to clean.
- Iron Angle & Temperature: Set your soldering iron to an optimal flow temperature (typically around 315°C–350°C depending on leaded or lead-free solder). Press the flat side of the iron tip onto the wick at a slight angle to maximize the surface area for heat transfer.
- Wicking Action: Wait a couple of seconds for the heat to penetrate through the braid. You will visibly see the molten solder turn shiny and get sucked up into the copper strands.
- Removal: Always lift the iron and the wick away from the board simultaneously to prevent the cooled wick from getting permanently stuck to the circuit pad. Cut off the used, silver-colored portion of the braid before your next use.
